MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE

Also called an editorial assessment. In this process, I will read your manuscript once and provide my feedback on character, stakes, and plot. You will receive an editorial letter based on my reading on how to further improve your manuscript.

Please note that a manuscript critique is usually done before beta readers (or alongside beta readers if you’re constrained for time). A developmental edit provides a more thorough analysis of your work. A manuscript critique generally costs less than a developmental edit.

This service costs $USD 0.007 per word.

If you’re a Muslim sister, I provide this service for FREE.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

In addition to providing feedback on character, stakes, and plot, I will also address any structural and/or stylistic issues regarding voice, tone, momentum/pacing, POV, showing/telling, and suspense/tension. You will receive an editorial letter based on two readings of your manuscript.

This service costs $USD 0.011 per word.

COPY EDITING

Copy edits come AFTER developmental and line edits. A copy edit checks for mistakes in spelling, grammar, punctuation, style consistency, fact-checking, and other technical issues. The style guide I use is The Chicago Manual of Style. The dictionaries I use are the Oxford English Dictionary and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. You may request I use your own dictionary and style guide. Based on one reading, you will receive a style sheet and a reader report. 

This service costs $USD 0.009 per word.

PROOFREADING

Proofreading is the final step before formatting and publication. A proofread checks for any typos or minor errors that may have been missed during the copy editing stage. This is based on one reading.

This service costs $USD 0.005 per word.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON

A thirty-minute virtual meeting to discuss your project after receiving your edit(s). This meeting will be conducted via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The cost of this service is $USD 35. This service is FREE for Muslim sisters.
