Weird Writing Tips
- Change the weather/setting: see what happens in a scene when there’s a blizzard or a hurricane strikes
- Rule of threes: mention something at least three times if it’s significant to the story (foreshadowing!)
- Go back to some previous scenes and take a different “path”—have the characters do something different in that scene
- Use the plot structure of a different genre for the genre you write: mystery plot for sci-fi genre
- Don’t write linearly: it’s okay to skip some scenes and write the ending or something that happens later in the story
- Monologue/interview with your characters: what would your characters say if they were on a talk show?
